The tiny island of St. Barts is picture-perfect. So much so that it has become a haunt for the very rich who come for the privacy, gorgeous beaches and exquisite French cuisine. It has over 20 magnificent beaches, linked roads that are hilly and narrow. The quaint streets of the Lilliputian port of Gustavia lead past small markets and bakeries. Included among these markets are dozens of small shops selling French perfumes, sportswerar, watches, and crystal. It is no wonder why the port of Gustavia is preferred by many of the luxury cruise lines as a port-of-call.

Dutch St. Maarten is a great place to stop just to shop. Its capital is Philipsburg and fills a narrow stretch of land between Great Bay and the Great Salt Pond. It is a bustling center of international trade with lively shopping streets, cafes, and hotels. Strangely enough it has two main streets called Front Street and Back Street.

On Front Street, which is the main thoroughfare, duty-free shops line the road as far as the eye can see. These duty-free shops offer everything from Italian leather goods and Japanese cameras to native crafts. Don't be afraid to venture the alleyways that will lead you to arcades and courtyards filled with flowers.

The Courthouse is the most prominent landmark on Front Street. It is a grand white wooden structure topped with a cupola built in 1793. Front Street also includes the Simartin Museum so that visitors can get and excellent introduction to local St. Maartin history. There are also historical forts that are monuments to Philipsburg's strategic importance in St. Maarten's history.

Philipsburg has not been left behind in the time, however. It has combined its historical legacy with 20th century excitement. Since its waterfront has become a popular stop for cruise ships, the shore of this town is covered with restaurants, cafes and nightclubs that offer entertainment well into the night.

Due to the beautiful scenery of this Freedom City, it is well known as the most alluring in the Caribbean and also the second largest town in St. Croix. Frederiksted provides an endless waterfront view for its visitors as well as its natives. During the mid 1700s the pirates and smugglers demanded the assembling of Fort Frederik in 1752. Six years later in 1758, the city was demolished by fire, and later reconstructed in Victorian style. The name Freedom City came about when the old British colony became American.

This beautiful Freedom City entails a national Historic Landmark that dates back to the mid 1700. Fort Frederik was the very place where the emancipation of slaves on July 3, 1848 occurred by Danish Governor Peter Von Shoulten. Also in this very place, in 1776, the first salute from foreign grounds to the United States occurred. Frederiksted also provides museum and art gallery for your visiting pleasure. The perimeter around Fort Frederik has been converted into a magnificent sight to see that includes a replica of the slave rebellion leader Buddhoe blowing a conch shell signaling freedom.

Nearby attractions include museums of the Taino people, reef-protected waters and ecological systems, and dolphin swims. Visit the 28th top golf course in the world, "The Teeth of the Dog"

Nassau, the capital of New Providence Island in the Bahamas, is a majestic, scenic adventure that you do not want to miss. New Providence island, Nassau has an attractive harbour, a colourful blend of old world and colonial architecture and a busy port. The tropical climate and natural beauty of the Bahamas has made Nassau a popular tourist destination, with a reputation for relaxing days and an exciting nightlife. Lynden Pindling International Airport, the major airport for the Bahamas, is located about 10 miles west of downtown Nassau, and has daily flights to major cities in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Caribbean. Summertime temperatures rarely exceed 33 degrees Celsius (92 degrees Fahrenheit) and the winter months have daytime temperatures between 20 and 26C (68 and 80 F), rarely falling below 10C or 50F. The city's proximity to the United States (180 miles or 290 km east-southeast of Miami, Florida) has also contributed to its popularity as a vacation spot, especially after the banning of American travel to Cuba. The world famous Atlantis resort on nearby Paradise Island accounts for more tourist arrivals to the city than any other hotel property. The mega resort also employs over 6,000 Bahamians, the largest outside of government.
