Pizarro's remains can be found in the Cathedral, built in 1746. From Lima, you can also take a tour to Machu Picchu, the mysterious lost city of the Incas high in the Andes, or to Cuzco, the capital of the Incan Empire.

The entire community is, in essence, a beach, so you will never be far from the sparkling sea and the warm, shimmering sand.There are a couple of outstanding restaurants in the vicinity, and the shopping here is limited but still enjoyable.The Museo de Artesanias Oxaquenas is an extraordinary museum where you can watch artistic geniuses at work.

The resorts of the Zona Dorada ("Golden Zone") deserve their fame, as does the sport-fishing which is known the world over, yet somehow the city maintains much of the simplicity and peace of its fishing village past.

Sail past Los Arcos, the soaring rock archway at the extreme southern tip of Baja California that guards Cabo's perfect harbor.
